Counting Numbers Activity For Kids
Numbers for Kids
Many preschoolers can count to 10, 50, or 100 without error. But this counting is rote counting and it does not mean that they have acquired the concept of numbers and operations. Because rote counting is counting the names of numbers by repetition in the same way as if learning a rhythm.
Therefore, in order for children to acquire the basic number concept in the preschool period, teachers should include plenty of classification, sequencing and one-to-one matching studies. For this purpose, the teacher may ask the child to match the object groups numerically one-to-one and say which one is less in number, more in number and the same number by counting.
Ask the child to match groups one-to-one and count.
