Farm Animals

Farm animals are domestic animals that are raised in an agricultural environment to produce food, fiber, and work products. However, the term can generally cover only those put forward for food and sometimes only ruminants such as cattle and goats.

There are many species of animals that live or fly in the water and on land. It is known that each of these animals lives in different places and in different ways. Teaching farm animals to children is also a great opportunity to teach them the importance of nature. Temperature, rain, wind, and other factors are all extremely important when it comes to agriculture, and working with nature is of great importance for farmers. In this article, we will talk about the types of animals raised on farms for special purposes.

The Cow

Cows are a favorite of many children. Cows living on farms provide us with milk, and with the milk they provide, we make dairy products such as cheese, butter, yogurt, and ice cream. Male cows are called bulls and baby cows are called calves.

The Horse

Even though they are wild animals in their own nature, horses are one of the most important helpers of our species as humanity. Horses living on the farms help the farmers in their daily work. They can be used to tow plows, trailers, and wagons. In addition, people ride horses to get from one place to another. Female horses are called mares and male horses are called stallions.

The Goat

Goats living on the farm can be milked just like cows, and cheese, butter, yogurt, and even soap can be made from their milk. Goats, one of the first animals we domesticated as humanity, have been helping us for nine thousand years, according to some historians.

The Chicken

Chickens can be fed both meat and eggs. The females lay eggs and are known as chickens. They can lay an average of one or two eggs per day. Male ones are called roosters. Roosters are generally known for their early morning crow. Young chickens are called chicks. It is known that chickens were domesticated in China about eight thousand years ago.

The Pig

Some of the pigs, which we can encounter in the wild, are raised on farms. We raise pigs mainly for their meat, and we make sausages and bacon from their meat. The farm pigs we are talking about life in a peng also called a pigsty. They cannot sweat like other animals and must roll in mud to cool off. Although many people see pigs as lazy and clumsy animals, pigs are quite fast and can reach speeds of 11mph.

The Goose

Female geese lay eggs just like chickens. Male geese are called “ganders” and baby geese are called “goslings”. A group of geese that are in the water or on land is called a “gaggle”. If they are in the air, they are called “skeins”. A mother goose can have four or five offspring at a time.
